Headquartered in Toronto, we empower brands to optimize their ad spend through innovative technology and analytics. Our team thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where creativity meets precision. As we continue to expand our global footprint, we’re seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team and support our growth trajectory. This role offers full work-from-home flexibility, with occasional virtual team meetings and optional in-office collaboration at our Toronto headquarters.
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health of our operations by overseeing month-end closes, financial reporting, and compliance processes. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will lead key accounting functions, mentor junior staff, and provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. This position is ideal for a proactive professional who excels in a remote setting and is passionate about the intersection of finance and digital media.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including general ledger reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to ensure accuracy and compliance with Canadian GAAP and IFRS standards.
- Manage accounts payable/receivable, cash flow monitoring, and payroll processing in collaboration with HR.
- Conduct internal audits, identify process improvements, and implement automation tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Boostr) to streamline operations.
- Support tax filings, including GST/HST returns and corporate tax compliance, while liaising with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights on ad revenue trends, cost efficiencies, and profitability metrics for media campaigns.
- Mentor and guide junior accountants, fostering a culture of continuous learning in a remote team environment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and operations teams to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices in digital advertising finance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation (or equivalent, such as CA or CMA) is preferable.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role; experience in media, tech, or advertising industries is a strong asset.
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros). Experience with CRM systems a plus.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote/WFH setup, with excellent time management and communication skills for virtual collaboration.
- Strong analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail and problem-solving in dynamic environments.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax laws, revenue recognition principles, and financial modeling.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary range based on experience.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and wellness programs.
- 100% remote work with flexible hours to support work-life balance.
- Opportunities for professional development, including CPA maintenance and leadership training.
- A supportive, inclusive culture with team-building events (virtual and in-person) and stock options.
